Open Call: Redesign Google

Picture 22

I’ve seen it done elsewhere, but perhaps Google needs a web2.0 kick in the css pants.

This is an open call to redesign pages on google.

Choose your weapons

Use any tool you like, for most, that’s just XHTML and CSS, but for others, who have 1337 ski11z and otherwise, you can use:

  • PHP
  • XSL & XSLT
  • vanilla XHTML and CSS
  • All of them! (anything but tables!)

Actually, I know none of us have time for this because of (the impending) CSS Reboot, but perhaps an attempt at semantic markup would be a nice challenge for now?

Post your links here, or post your visual redesigns on the flickr pool here.

Good luck! Leave your comments and links here!

DISCLAIMER: I am in no way affiliated with Google. I’m merely a user who has become accustomed to websites that are designed with web standards.

  1. uhh, don’t like the design at the moment - wanna have a new one :)

  2. I found one from awhile ago, from Andrei ( http://www.designbyfire.com/?p=23 )
It’s wonderful, even though it was created back in 2004.
Give it a look (results page):

  3. @luxuryluke: wonderful? not really. the page seems overloaded although it’s almost the same content like on the original interface: less is more.
